Need something quiet to do in Seattle, but don’t want to travel out of the city? Look no further than the University of Washington Campus. On a clear day, visitors can gaze across Drumheller Fountain and see Mount Rainier standing majestically in the distance. No matter the weather, though, the UW campus is a great escape. It often invokes a feeling of being in a quaint English village, right here in the Pacific Northwest.
Weekends and holidays are the best times to visit, since there aren’t any classes going on. In between the academic quarters is also a great time to visit. It was hot and smoky on the day I visited, due to the wild fires, but there were still people milling about. This is a great place for running/jogging, walking, taking the dog out, picnicking, and soaking up the sights. There’s a light rail station just a hop, skip, and jump away from the main campus, so there’s really no need in driving and trying to find a parking space.
Come out and enjoy the campus, whether you’re here for work or play. It’s a fantastic place for a quick escape from the craziness of downtown.
